A Fundraiser Performance 

Join OnWord Theatre for a wacky evening of performance like you’ve never seen before, re-imagining [or bastardizing] roles you and love! Please complete this entire form as specifically as possible to be considered for Against Type! Roles I Could Play, But Never Will by September 1st, 2025. 

This unique performance opportunity encourages actors to step outside their typical roles and explore characters through songs and monologues that they are deeply passionate about but rarely, if ever, get the chance to perform. Think a white male Dreamgirl- is it appropriate? Hell No! But is it a musical beloved by all that many people would like the opportunity to perform? Absolutely!

Please prepare a piece that showcases your enthusiasm for a role or material that defies your usual casting: against your racial, size, age, gender, etc. type. No rehearsal is required for this performance, therefore this piece should be something you're ready and able to perform on the spot with little to no set or props. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Please upload or email a self-tape video less than 3 minutes in length (including your slated introduction) of what you'd like to perform at the event, a recent headshot, and acting resume. 

If cast, you’ll be participating in a showcase of performances. This one night only performance will take place September 19th at 6PM. Location to be provided to selected performers. Food and drink will be provided as well as a one-time stipend of $30. As this is a fundraiser, cast are welcome to donate their payment back to OnWord Theatre [but not required to]. Cast are welcomed and encouraged to stay and enjoy the rest of the performances and party!
